STARTUPPER CHALLENGE AWARD

On 30th October 2024, TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania Limited announced the local jury winners for the fourth edition of the TotalEnergies Startupper Challenge, which included participation from 32 countries. The challenge received 40,000 registrations on its platform, with 14,000 completed applications. The three local winners of this special edition, held to commemorate the company’s centenary, were celebrated during an official prize-giving ceremony at the TotalEnergies head office in Masaki, Dar es Salaam.

The Startupper Challenge Award was officiated by TotalEnergies Managing Director Mamadou Ngom, alongside TotalEnergies management, employees, journalists, and local winners, showcasing the spirit of entrepreneurial innovation within the community. The local winners were recognized in different project categories: the Best Entrepreneur award in the Innov’Up category went to Freshpack Technologies; the Cycle Up award for the best circular economy project was awarded to Sustainable Avocable Oil; and the Power Up category for the best sustainable and affordable project was won by Non-Refillable Oxyvent.

In the 2024 Startupper Challenge, young Africans aged 18 to 35 residing in Tanzania, with business projects or startups less than three years old, participated. Over 1,000 applications were received, with 436 fully completed. The top 100 were selected for vetting, and the top 15 entrepreneurs were invited to pitch their projects to the jury. The winner of the Best Entrepreneur award in the Innov’Up category was Ms. Editha Godilsten for Freshpack Technologies. The Cycle Up category winner for the best circular economy project was Adelaide Mwasyoghe for Sustainable Avocable Oil. The Power Up category winner for the best sustainable and affordable project was Ms. Emman Mohamed for Non-Refillable Oxyvent. Each winner received TZS 20,000,000, media visibility, marketing promotion in local media, and personalized coaching from Westerwelle Foundation Tanzania to assist them in the creation and development of their businesses.

Mamadou Ngom, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania Limited, announced the winners of the Startupper Challenge’s fourth edition and congratulated all the finalists who reached the top 15 of the competition. He expressed his gratitude to Rehema Mbugi, Malega Kalembire, Edwin Bruno, Masoud Kipanya, and Hellena Sailas.
