TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania Ltd, in partnership with the TotalEnergies Foundation, has launched the 2025 edition of the VIA Creative program at Ndalala Secondary School in Temeke. VIA is a global road safety education initiative that has reached 920,000 students in 43 countries since 2019.
In Tanzania, VIA has already impacted 22,000 primary school students across schools in Dar es Salaam, Pwani, and Morogoro since 2022. This year, the program expands to secondary schools, special needs schools, and the Dodoma region, aiming to reach 7,000 students and nurture 110 Road Safety Ambassadors through arts-based learning using music, drama, and visual storytelling. The program is delivered by Nafasi Art Space.

Driving Impact Through Creativity
The VIA Creative program includes a national road safety competition, where the winning school’s creative artwork and proposal are implemented locally and entered the global VIA contest. In 2024, Makuburi Primary School won the national title and received a protective wall to enhance student safety.
Speaking at the launch, Ms. Marsha Msuya, Acting Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania Ltd, emphasized: “VIA Creative is more than a program; it is a movement that empowers young people to become ambassadors of road safety. By using creative tools like music and drama, we are not only educating but inspiring students to lead change in their communities.”
Ms. Lilian Hypolite, Executive Director of Nafasi Art Space, added: “Art has the power to transform how we learn and engage with the world. Through VIA Creative, students are not just passive recipients—they are creators, performers, and leaders in this journey.”
The Guest of Honour, Hon. Sixtus Mapunda, District Commissioner for Temeke Municipality, praised the initiative as a model for public-private partnerships that address real societal challenges.
Through VIA Creative, TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania Ltd and the TotalEnergies Foundation reaffirm their commitment to road safety education in Tanzania, empowering students to become changemakers through creativity, education, and community engagement.
