Public Statement – Clarification on Circulating Video: FCC Anti- Counterfeit Operation

Dar es Salaam, February 13, 2026 – TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania Limited wishes to clarify the context surrounding the videos currently circulating online that appear to show counterfeit TotalEnergies lubricant products being manufactured. The footage originates from an official cease-and-freeze operation led by the Fair Competition Commission (FCC), acting under the instructions of the Tanzanian government to combat all forms of counterfeit products, including lubricants.

TotalEnergies was not directly involved in this specific raid. However, since 2024, we have been actively collaborating with government authorities, including the FCC, to help identify and eliminate counterfeit TotalEnergies Lubricants from the Tanzanian market. These ongoing efforts are designed to protect our customers and uphold the integrity of our brand.

We want to reassure all our valued customers that genuine TotalEnergies products are available exclusively at our authorized service stations and distributors throughout Tanzania. Actions such as those undertaken by the FCC are vital in ensuring that customers receive safe, high-quality products and are protected from counterfeit goods.

TotalEnergies remains committed to working closely with authorities and partners to combat counterfeiting. Our priority is to safeguard our customers and ensure access to authentic TotalEnergies lubricants.

TotalEnergies’ QR code application to protect TotalEnergies consumers

To further protect our customers, TotalEnergies launched the QR Code Control feature, an easy, secure, and immediate way to verify the authenticity of all TotalEnergies lubricant products before purchase.
